A Few Recognitions...

Thanks to Aunt Beka for cutting Colt's hair! She did a great job!

Thanks to Rach for letting me borrow the cute shirt that I'm wearing in these pictures! I love it!

Today is the Big Day!!

Well, as all of you know, today was Colton's first day of Preschool at his new school!! We have all been so excited about this new change! Our baby...all grown up and going to preschool! Crazy! Anyway, here is a bit of a play by play! I hope you all enjoy!

My little man just snoozing away...he did not want to get up for ANYTHING!

Here he is again...trying to drown out the noise of morning! (I try to be sweet and easy in the morning...he just doesn't always appreciate it! lol)

Up close and personal! "Come on Mom, just one more minute!"

Ope, looks like Mimi has finally gotten his attention! He is excited to show her the new cars he got this weekend while visiting Mimsi and Poppy!

"Cheeeeeeese" Can you tell it's early!

Here he is, brushing his teeth with Aunt NooNee! She's such a good influence!

"Let's try a different angle, Mom!"

Don't you just love the cheesy, fake smile! He looks so big!

"I love you Aunt NooNee!"

Look at how old he looks...and his face looks so skinny! Oh, I just love it! And Aunt NooNee looks so pretty! She's such a good aunt. She got up a whole hour early just so she could come with us for his first day! So fun!

Alright, we've finally made it downstairs! Our hair is fixed, our teeth are brushed...we have all of our clothes on and our shoes on the right feet! Now it's time to check out the new Cars folder that Aunt NooNee got him! So cool! Of course, he has to name all of the cars before he can put it back in his new Cars backpack!

Now for the predictable pic with Mom! So precious! I just love him to death!

Time to get the back pack on! But it's hanging down a bit much, so I've gotta tighten it up!

"Come on Mom, how hard can it be!"

"Mom...hurry up already!"

"Here, Mom...how 'bout we put in on frontways! on my tummy!"

Well, that didn't work...so now we are back to just holding it...which we all know lasted about 2 seconds before it became too heavy, and Mom ended up holding it!

Alright, time for more Mommy-Colton pics! Can't take too many of those!

"Come on Mom, she said say 'Cheeeeeeeeeese'!"

Alright, enough of that picture nonsense, I gotta check out the pockets again!

Ok, so we finally made it to the car! He already looks worn out! lol (He looks a lot like his older half brother, Zach in this pic...so precious!)

There we go again with the fake smile!

And we're walking in! He has decided to show off his Big Boy Muscles and carry in his backpack...refusing any help from Mom! (How cute do we look! Pretty soon he will catch up with me...and pass me up in height! AHHHHHHHHHHH!! Definitely not ready for that! Let's just stick to preschool!)

This is the before-school classroom where he will eat breakfast and play until 8:00. He did just fine...just walked right in!

Here he is busy checking out the toys...while I am getting ready for the big goodbye hug!

And there it is! "I love you Colton!" "I love you too, Mom!" "Have a good day, Colt!" "Ok...bye Mom!"

And that was it! That was the end of our morning! Thanks to Aunt NooNee for taking pictures!

I picked him up after work. He had a great day...and was such a good boy! His favorite part was playing with the cars! He couldn't remember any of the boys and girls names...but he did say that he had girl teachers. I said "Oh, you have two lady teachers?" "Mom, ladies are girl teachers...that's what they are...just girl teachers...you don't have to say lady teachers!" (well, scuse me! lol he set me strait on that one!) I didn't know if he would be open about sharing his day, but as long as I kept asking questions, he kept answering! Then, after about 10 minutes of talking he said "can we please turn some music on?" and I said "but I'm not done talking about your day!" "ok" Then, once we got on our street he said "Ok, NOW can we listen to some music?" (as if to say...ok Mom, enough questions about school...it's just school! gosh!)

Overall, I was very pleased with the day! I think this will be a great school for Colt and a good place for us. I'm excited about the days, weeks, months to come...about sharing the fun things that he says and does! I hope you all enjoy!

A Decision Has Been Made!!!

I have finally chosen between the two Preschools for Colton. I picked the one closer to us. I was a little nervous about sending him there because this is their first year and I didn't really want Colton a part of the "experiment year"...you know what I mean? Well, I went to the Open House last Saturday and felt completely at ease. The Director knew exactly what she was talking about and had great answers for all of my questions. The school actually starts on August 13th, which is next Monday. But, we weren't planning on starting the other school until August 27th, which is 2 weeks later. The new school said it would be fine if we waited till the 27th, that a lot of the kids weren't starting until then. Plus, I don't want to pull him out of Dianne's care early #1 because she might not be ready for that emotionally, seeing as he has been a part of her life almost every day for the past three years...and #2 she probably needs the money, seeing as she is leaving for a 2 week vacation on the 26th. So, the 27th it is!

I am so excited! And Colton is getting pretty excited too! I know that he will do so well. I can't wait!

Another milestone...Colton slept in big boy underwear last night! He has been ready for months now, I think...he wakes up dry every morning. But, whenever I asked him at night if he wants to wear big boy underwear, he always hesitates and says no. Well, last night he said YES! So, I made a HUGE deal out of it...letting him know what a big boy he was! And this morning, when he woke up dry, I praised him even more! And it was a big deal at Dianne's house too!

So, all of these Big Boy decisions and milestones...it's kind of a lot on a mom! ;) But, I am enjoying it! Now I get to go school clothes shopping...along with a few supplies like a new backpack and lunchbox. I can't wait! School supplies shopping was always my favorite growing up! I will post pics as we get things!!

On to other news...Rach and Hudson are here for the weekend! I am soooooooooo excited! They got here today. I won't get to play tonight because I have class, but tomorrow night and the rest of the weekend I will! YEA! We have Lindsay's twin baby shower on Saturday, so that should be a blast! I will try and take plenty of pics this weekend!

Hope you guys have a great rest of your week and weekend!

Pics from the Choir Performance!

This is when they held hands to walk up to the stage. Colt didn't know what to do, so he started to sit down!! So cute!

So cute just standing there waiting...not sure what he's waiting for...but he's waiting patiently!

This was the moment he saw me...and the rest of us! He was so excited!

A few of the kids were doing the hand motions...the rest of them were doing good just to sing along! It really was fun!

Afterwards, they had a special time for refreshments: cookies and yummy punch! Lindsay, BJ and Hayden tried to make it for the performance, but it started earlier than we thought it would. But, they made it just in time for the refreshments! Hayden wanted to check out the stage. She was ready to do her own performance. The whole night was a lot of fun!

A few pics...

Since I haven't found/made the time to post pics from home, here are a few pics of Colt that I have access to from work. This was at our family reunion back in June! He loved riding the horse...and he especially loved his cowboy hat that his Aunt Cheri gave him. Hudson has a matching one...that is blue! Fun Fun!! Enjoy!

Annoyed!

Yeah, so...I am currently working 8-5 M-F. I am also taking two classes. One that I actually attend and one online. Well, as a lot of you know, my job is VERY slow right now. So slow that my boss is spending time on Solitaire and other games...that is along with taking a lunch and a MILLION smoke breaks! So, I thought that with my free time, I could work on my classes. I figured my boss would rather me spend my free time on school to further my education than playing stupid card games online. Well, I was wrong. I got pulled aside today and asked if I was working on my homework. I said that I was proofing my paper. She said "put your homework away and get to work". That's when I very nicely said "I don't have anything to do". And she said "well, find something to do"!! Can you believe that?! I get reprimanded for reading over a paper....yet she doesn't care less if I play a card game, read a book, or even lay my head down on my desk! Ridiculous if you ask me! I am not very happy with that!

Oh well, what do you do? you work on your homework behind her back!! that's what you do! lol nah, I'm kidding...actually, I'm really not! If I don't have any work to do...then I am going to spend my time furthering my education so that ONE DAY I will no longer have to work at the Title Company! (there! how do you like that!!)

Ok, that's it for now. I'm done complaining/venting! I hope everyone is having a splendid day!

Updates

Ok, so now that you all have the update from the choir performance, I can move on to other things!

Colton starts preschool August 27th! I am BEYOND excited about this! I just think that he will have such a great time...and learn so much...and make so many new friends! I only see positives! I am sad that we will be leaving Ms. Dianne. She has been wonderful to us the past 3 years! Yes, it's been 3 years since I started back to work full time back home. August 16, 2004 was the first day...so she will have watched him for a little over 3 years when we leave! Sad day! But, happy day! This is exciting! This is a good thing! So, I will definitely be posting blogs about what goes on at his school! (I know this is terrible, but I can't wait for them to call me if he gets in trouble. Don't get me wrong, I don't want him to be bad. But I spent the past 2 1/2 years listening to my co-workers put their sons on speaker phone so that we could all hear what happened! It was always hysterical!!) Now, mind you, I might change my mind on that later!

As for me, I started back at school AGAIN this summer. I am taking Human Anatomy & Physiology with Susanna. To be honest...the class is kicking my butt!!! I am also taking a Psychology class...that class isn't bad, it's actually quite simple! We only have about 2 1/2 weeks left of class...Praise God! I'll let you know how that goes!

Let's see, what else? Hmm...oh, Colton's new obsession is collecting cars from the movie CARS. (and when I say obsession...that is EXACTLY what I mean!) He will not stop talking about the cars that he still needs! Nevermind the new cars that are sitting on his floor that he COULD be playing with! No, he is too consumed with "The List" of cars...and telling us which cars he still needs! Let me just tell you, we hear "The List" at least 5 times a day...each! And that's just in the evenings! It's really funny! So, that's his new "hobby". It's actually fun, on my end too. Not the part where I have to shell out $3.99 a car...no, that part isn't fun! But collecting them is! My mom got him a new CARS carmat for his room. He loves it! And my Nana got him a pair of CARS boxershorts. Too cute! I love em!

I can't really think of anything else right now. I have been doing pretty good...with life and stuff. Just taking things one day at a time! Otherwise I get overwelmed and stressed out...and that's not a pretty site!

So, I will try and post pics...in the near future! I'm not going to promise anything...but we'll see!

One More Thing...

Kelsea (Colton's little choir girl friend) was not able to make it. She was sick that day. I was so sad...even more so than Colt! Oh well, it just wasn't meant to be!

He Did It!!

He did it!! Colton sang with his little choir buddies for the production! I know that you guys have been in suspense for 3 months now...so I figured I would fill you in!

He did great! I took him to his classroom and then we (my parents & Susanna) went to where they were going to perform. We waited...and then in they came! Colton was in the front of the line. They were all holding hands. It was precious! They walked up to the front, not too sure about where they were going. Then proceeded up the risers. Colton hadn't practiced on the risers, so he had no idea what he was supposed to do. So, he went to the second one and started to sit down! lol The lady helped him get to his spot. It was so cute! He looked so big yet so little at the same time, you know?

So, once they were all lined up, the teacher introduced them, and then started the music. (we didn't sit on the front row. I didn't want to distract him. We sat on the 3rd or 4th row.) At this point he hadn't seen us yet. They all sang...well, some of them. A lot of the kids just kind of looked around...my child included. The moment he saw me his whole face lit up...and he had the biggest smile! He mouthed "Mommy!" and just looked so cute & excited! I started mouthing the words, so he started singing.

They sang 4 songs in all. And in between each song, Colton would say "Mommy, I need you, Mommy! I need you!" It was precious! The first time people cracked up laughing. The second and third time they started looking around to see who his mommy was. I was so proud!! ;) I'm sure you can imagine!

They all did so good...even on the hand motions. Some more than others! We video taped it, but I don't have the parts to put it on the computer. I thought I did, but it didn't come with it. So, one day, i will post the video. I do have a few pictures. So, maybe, if you guys are lucky...I will post the pics when I get home tonight! ;) (but don't get your hopes up!)

So, that's that update! I hope it was worth the wait! I have never felt more like a mom than I did that night! I was so proud! I can't wait till next time!
